Date and Time: Thursday 27 June I 15:00-16:30 CEST I 9:00 – 10:30 ET

The “Tackling Sustainability Through the AI Lifecycle” webinar is part of the new IEEE Technology Center for Climate (ITCC) series on “AI and Sustainability.” Organized by ITCC in collaboration with the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence’s (GPAI) RAISE project and supported by Centre d’expertise international de Montréal en Intelligence artificielle (CEIMIA), the event will explore sustainable AI systems from a lifecycle perspective, focusing on design, software optimization, and other critical components.

While AI can be employed to tackle climate-related global challenges, it also has its own environmental footprint throughout its lifecycle, from the development of AI systems through its deployment and use. Considering this, it is critical to discuss how to move towards a sustainable AI in order to preserve natural resources, meet climate goals and comply with emerging regulations.

This webinar will bring at the table panelists representing different AI ecosystem stakeholders, including industry, policy makers and academia, to address current realities, good practices, challenges and suggestions on how to take environmental considerations into account from the design to deployment of AI.

Through these contributions the webinar intends to support the identification of gaps and needs in the sustainable AI space, while bringing together the global community working in the sustainable AI ecosystem and preparing the ground to address identified challenges.

The webinar series on “AI and Sustainability” is a follow up to the earlier series organized in cooperation with Reuters Events: “Empowering the Green Tech Revolution.”
