European Green Digital Coalition (EGDC)

The European Green Digital Coalition (EGDC) is an industry alliance and initiative supported by the European Commission and the European Parliament, based on the request of the EU Council, to develop methodology on emission calculations and reporting.

Launched in 2021, the coalition is formed by ICT companies who signed a Declaration to support the Green and Digital Transformation of the EU with the aims to harness the enabling emission-reducing potential of digital solutions to all other sectors.

IEEE SA is a supporting partner of the coalition, contributing IEEE experts and co-shaping discussions and developments. We contributed to four of the five working groups on scope and methodology, avoided and solution emissions and reporting (phase 1). Phase 2, which will start in November 2023, will be expanding the partnership to the priority sectors of transport, energy, smart cities, construction, manufacturing and agriculture, and finalizing EGDC methodology.
