“Factoring Sustainability in Building AI Systems” is the second episode of the IEEE Technology Center for Climate (ITCC) webinar series on “AI and Sustainability.” This webinar will explore how sustainability considerations can be embedded in the design of AI systems.
While ethical considerations throughout the lifecycle of AI systems have been at the heart of responsible AI and AI-related regulatory frameworks, the aspect of sustainability is a more recent addition. Discussions about the environmental impact of AI at policy and implementation call for an integration of sustainability-related considerations already at the design phase of AI systems rather than an after-thought.
Such a design thinking approach, which is aligned to value-based engineering, may include a wide range of techniques, from traditional process optimization, and performance engineering to business decisions which may impact the use of resources.
Join us for this thought-provoking webinar featuring different perspectives on how to integrate environmental considerations right from the design phase of AI systems.
The webinar series on “AI and Sustainability” is a follow up to the earlier series organized in cooperation with Reuters Events: “Empowering the Green Tech Revolution.”

About the Webinar Series on AI and Sustainability
The “AI and Sustainability” webinar series is a continuation of our previous collaboration with Reuters Events on “Empowering the Green Tech Revolution.” The series explores how sustainable AI is essential to harness the benefits of technologies like generative AI while safeguarding our environment and finite resources.
